Calvary’s Place is a family community center outreach that launched out of Calvary Alliance Church in January 2017.
Calvary’s Place serves over 60 families in our community by providing groceries and diapers at a significantly reduced cost, childcare, snacks, fun, games, and various self-improvement classes for the adults.
The most important thing our 50+ volunteers provide these families is the love, acceptance, and hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ.
MISSION
The Calvary’s Place exists to strengthen families facing food insecurities by providing groceries, diapers, and other essentials, while also providing practical education and a supportive community rooted in dignity, friendships, hope, and the Gospel for the purpose of bringing about a sustainable transformation.
VISION
The Calvary’s Place reflects an engaging community, where individuals rebuilding their lives are met with compassion, and where spiritual, emotional, and practical support work together to foster lasting friendships, stability, resilience, and sustained life transformation.
Calvary’s Place Programs
Calvary’s Place meets twice per month on Mondays at Calvary Alliance Church, located at 986 Nordyke Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45255. On the Mondays when in-person gatherings are not held, an online version of Calvary’s Place is streamed on Facebook so participants can still stay connected and engaged. Each gathering includes worship, Bible devotions, prayer, monthly communion, snacks and refreshments, and opportunities for friendship, connection, and fun.
Families who participate may also receive up to $50 in groceries, selecting items from a list of more than 90 basic food products to create a custom order that best fits their needs. Calvary’s Place partners with the Freestore Foodbank to help provide these groceries at a reduced cost. In addition, diapers and feminine hygiene products are available for those who need them through a partnership with Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank, allowing these essential items to be offered at no charge.
Free childcare is provided during meetings and includes videos, games, and activities for children. Adults can also participate in classes such as Bible studies, Movie Club, parenting classes, basic budgeting and finance, learning about love languages, and practical guidance on how to shop, cook, and eat healthy on a budget. The only requirement for families to receive the services and support offered through Calvary’s Place is attendance and participation in the gatherings.
